Brief explanation Shinjuku Gyoen was constructed on the site of a private mansion belonging to Lord Naito, a "daimyo"(feudal lord) of the Edo era, once developped as agricultural research center in1872 and reconstructed as an imperial garden in 1906, it was re-designated as a national garden after the Second World War and opened to the public in 1949. Although the garden located near shopping area of downtown “Shinjyuku area”, it has vast space with many kind of variety of Cherry blossom, rose and popular chrysanthemum exhibition beautiful autumn foliage, the garden is loved by many citizens. There is also a beautiful greenhouse with many tropical and subtropical flowers.
Remarks You can enjoy many kind of cherry varieties in many place in the garden, but drinking alcohol in the garden is prohibited.

When Monday is a Japanese national holiday, the following weekday is closed. March25-April 24, Nov.1-Nov.15 Open every day. Open hours; from 9:00am to 16:30 (Oct1 to March 14, Open from 9:00am to 18:30 (July1-Aug.20), Open from 9:00am to 18:00 (March15 to June 30, Aug21-Sep. 30) (Entrance 30 min. before closing)
