原産地/ Original : Ogasawara islands (Japan)

小笠原諸島に分布する固有種で サワギキョウ のように背丈が高く、３ｍにもなります。発芽してから４～６年目に花を咲かせ、種を付けたあとは枯れてしまいます。

It is an endemic species distributed in the Ogasawara Islands and is as tall as Sawagikyo (Lobelia sessilifoli) and can reach up to 3m. It blooms 4 to 6 years after sprouting and withers after seeding.

ブラジル原産アヤメ科ネオマリカ属の常緑多年草です。花は外花被片、内花被片3枚ずつの白色で、基部に黄色と紫褐色の縞模様があります。外花被片は大きく、細長でく白色で目立ち、基部に茶色・黄色斑があります。内花被片は立ち上がり、小さな鮮青色に白筋が入った部分は先端が内側に巻きます。

The flower is composed of three outer cover pieces and inner cover pieces. The outer cover is large, elongated and white, with brown and yellow spots at the base. The inner flower piece stands up, and the small bright blue section with white streaks and there are brown and yellow spots near the base.

花期は11-翌年1月。夏は一時枯れて、11月末頃から芽吹きだし、枝先に近い葉腋から花を出します。萼は長さ約6-7mmの鐘状で、長い縮毛があり、5裂し、萼裂片は3角形で長さ約2mmで先は鋭いです。花冠は筒状の唇形で白色、長さ約1.5cmになり、軟毛が密生します。

It is a native in Ogasawara islands belongs to genus of Ajuga. It blooms winter after leaves spread in November after wilted in summer. Tube shape flower is consists of white 5 triangle sepals 6-7mm long.
