It is commonly known as the pink butterfly orchid, favors dry and stony ground and cold growing erect terrestrial orchid blooms in the late winter and spring on a 5 to 7.5 cm long, loosely 2 to 8 flowered, erect, angular, reddish towards the apex inflorescence with red tinted, lanceolate bracts carrying showy flowers.
