シャガに似ていて、小型なので、この名前がついていますが、シャガは常緑なのに対し、ヒメシャガは冬には枯れます。花期は5-6月で、径4cmほどの淡紫色の花を花茎に2-3個咲かせます。
This plant is deciduous (fringed iris is ever green). And smaller, clumps of grass like foliage with numerous small blue flowers.
