This variety was developed by Mr. Hideo Kubota by selecting from seedlings of October cherry blossoms cultivated in, Oyama Monastery, Oyama City, 1954, the one that bloomed in 1959. The variety is a semi double variety (number of petals is 6 to 10) and beautiful cherry blossom. The variety named from river flown near the Oyama Monastery. The tree shape is umbrella-shaped and not very large, the flowers are pink-purple, is a parent of variety named “Haruka” by popular actress Ms. Haruka Ayase.
