奈良県春日山の麓にあった桜を京都の桜守、佐野藤右衛門氏が接ぎ木により育成した品種です。花は淡紅色で花弁の数は15～20枚程度です。
This variety was developped by Mr. Toemon Sano, cherry saver of Kyoto from a cherry planted at the foot of Mt. Kasuga, Nara, by grafting. The flower petals are pale pink and the number of petals is about 15 to 20.
