このページはイタリアの古い友人Mario Bertiさんからの写真をもとに作成しました。ゲンチアナルテアの花冠は基部近くで5〜7枚の細い花びらに分かれた花を茎の先端部に密集させ咲かせ、高さ1〜2 mに成長します。中部および南部ヨーロッパの高山および亜高山の牧草地、通常は石灰質の土壌で成長します。 植物と花は、野生で放牧されている馬や牛に喜ばれる食べ物です。 ゲンチアナルテアの根は、苦味のハーブとして長い間使用されてきた歴史があり、多くの薬効成分を含んでいます。
This page is completed by picture sent by my old Italian friend Mr. Mario Berti. Gentiana lutea, growing to 1–2 m tall, blooms yellow, with the corolla separated nearly to the base into 5–7 narrow petals. It grows in grassy alpine and sub-alpine pastures, in the meadows and mountain pastures, usually on calcareous soils. The plant and the flower are food appreciated by horses and cows grazing in the wild. Gentian root has a long history of use as an herbal bitter and is an ingredient of many proprietary medicines.
