A variety know as used to be at Hakusan Shrine in Koishikawa, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, which has several petals called flag petal in addition to five petals. In 1949, Takenoshin Nakai discovered the same line in the mountains of Hota, Kyonan Town, Chiba Prefecture. It is sometimes mistakenly called hatazakura or urawa-zakura.
