原産地/ Original : Japan
原木は長野県松本市笹賀地区にあり、百瀬優雄が1981年に自宅で栽培している大島桜の種子を播種、翌年発芽したものを移植し育成、1987年に開花した中から選抜されたものです。近くに鴛鴦桜（オシドリザクラ）があったことや葉や花の特徴から大島桜に鴛鴦桜が交雑したものと推定されます。1992年に久保田秀夫によりこの名がつけられました。
The original tree is located in the Sasaga area in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture. It was selceted in 1987 by Mr. Momose from seedlings of Oshima cherry (C. speciosa) by his own garden It is highly probable that Oshima was crossed with Oshidori cherry (a variety belongs to C. incisa) based on the fact that there was a Oshidori cherry tree nearby and the characteristics of the leaves and flowers of them. This name was given by Mr. Kubota in 1992.
