It is developed by Masatoshi Asari, a Sakura researcher in Matsumae in 1968 and named in 1997. It was developed by crossing two Satozakuras varieties (C. serrulata) (Itokukuri and Edo). It is distinguished by a unique fan-shaped crimson striped pattern from the center vein of the petals.
