花期は4月頃、ネコノメソウより早く開花し、花びらのように見える4枚の萼は黄緑色をしている。萼のもとの部分は黄色みをおびていて、派手さはないが美しいです。葉や苞葉は丸っこい形をしています。

It begins to bloom earlier than Chrysosplenium grayanum. Flowers are about 5 mm in diameter. 4 calyxes in yellow-green resemble actual flower petals. The root of the calyxes yellowish, not flashy but beautiful.
