淡紅色で大輪八重の花をつける。京都市嵯峨大覚寺の大沢池にあったもので1940年に京都の佐野藤右衛門により増殖されました。古くから栽培されていた桜のひとつと考えられています。
This pale pink large double variety is planted by Osawa pond in Daaikakuji temple in Sagano Kyoto, and propagated by Tobei Sano in Kyoto. This variety is considered as planted very long time.

なお、現在、大覚寺では、原木は確認できず、境内の八重桜が大沢桜に近似すると考えられていますが、確認はされていません。
