原産地/ Original : southeastern United States
潤地に適し、沼沢地での根元が少し水につかった状態（冠水）で自生することが多い。このため日本ではヌマスギとも呼ばれます。また秋に紅葉した鳥の羽のような葉のついたままの枝を落とすので落羽松と呼ばれています。
It is noted for the russet-red fall color of its lacy needles. The main trunk is often surrounded by cypress knees.
