少ししわのよった白い5弁花の中央に、鮮紅色の雌蕊と雄蕊が盛り上がっていて全体として目立つ花です。球状の果実は「elephant apple」と呼ばれ、食用になるとする文献とならないとの文献もあります。
Its flowers are white, large, showy, and about 15 centimeters in diameter with reddish pistils and stamens. The edible fruits are rounded with large fleshy sepals tightly enclosing the true fruit.
