2018年に新種と判断された日本の紀伊半島南部が原産のサクラで、日本に自生する10種のサクラ属基本野生種のうちの一つに加えられました。ヤマザクラよりピンクが鮮やかでヤマザクラより早咲きです。
It is recognized a new species different from yamazakura in 2018 and one of the 10 basic native species in Japan. It is distinguished as darker pink pale and early blooming comparing yamazakura.
