花びらは白色、一重で大輪の花を咲かせるこの種は、一度日本では絶滅したと思われていましたが、英国の桜研究家、イングラムによって保存されていたものが、再度日本に戻り、太白と名付けられたものです。なお、駒繋（コマツナギ）と呼ばれているものや安行の有明は、この太白と同じ系統であるこが確かめられています。
This variety was reintroduced from UK since it was thought to be extinct in Japan but Mr. Collingwood Ingram, famous British ornithologist, plant collector and gardener kept in his garden in UK. After return of this Taihaku variety to Japan, some lines like Komatsunagi or Ariake of Angyo can be same genotype of this same line.
