夏に黄色の花を咲かせます。受粉後、数日経つと子房柄が下方に伸びて地中に潜り込み、子房の部分が膨らんで地中に実をならせます。花が受粉した後、落ちて地中で実を生むことから「落花生」という名前が付けられました。
It blooms yellowish orange flowers on the stems above ground and last for just one day.Peanut pods develop underground, an unusual feature known as geocarpy. After fertilization, a short stalk at the base of the ovary to form a “peg” which grows down into the soil, and the tip, which contains the ovary, develops into a mature peanut pod.
