原産地/ Original : southern China, the Indian Subcontinent, South East Asia and tropical Queensland.
白い花の唇形の花弁の間から伸びる長い雄しべと雌しべが、猫の髭に似ているので、ネコノヒゲと呼ばれます。マレー半島の原産でマレー語のクミスクチンを含むお茶が血圧降下に良いということでも知られています。熱帯地方では多年草ですが、日本では屋外では越冬できず１年草扱いになります。
The plant is a medicinal herb traditionally used as remedies for various ailments in Southeast Asia. It is named by showy 4 strikingly long stamens, which stick out, looking like cat’s whiskers sticking out from the white to pale purple flowers lip.
