イギリスの桜研究家イングラム(Collingwood Ingram)がカンヒザクラとマメザクラを交配して作出しました。やや緋色が強く下向きに咲く早咲きの桜で大きならないので鉢植えなどにもされます。
A early blooming hybrid developed by Captain Collingwood Ingram crossed between Prunus incisa and Prunus campanulata, the Okame cherry (Prunus x incam ‘Okame’) and has small, bright pink flowers with distinct bright red star shaped sepals and stems.
