北アメリカ原産のスミレの仲間で、青紫の比較的大きな花を咲かせます。花色は青紫のほか、白色、白色に紫の縞の入るものもあります。
The plnt is a medium to dark violet with darker veins radiating out from the throat. The common blue violet is also called the “lesbian flower” because in the early 1900s, lesbian women would give violets to the women they were wooing.
