茎の先の白い花が玉に、細い葉がすだれのように見えることからタマスダレと呼ばれるようになったとか。また、この花の仲間はまとまった雨の後に茎を延ばし花を咲かせるので、総称してレインリリーとも呼ばれます。
Flowers, which bud late in August at first resemble a new leaf, but emerge from their papery sheaves to a stunning whiteness; they are erect in perianth white and sometimes pinkish abaxially. Name of ran-lily is called by flower growing rapidly after rain.
