湿地や田のあぜに生え、紫色の花を盆のころに咲かせるので、盆花とも呼ばれます。萩に似て、禊に使われる、あるいは溝に生えるので、ミソハギと呼ばれたといわれています。
The plant is seen in wetland and edge of paddy and has purple cluster of flowers and belong to Lythrum family and well known in Japan.
