春に薄い紫色（いわゆる藤色）の房になって垂れ下がる花をたくさん咲かせるつる性の植物です。芳香があり、藤棚の下などではよい香りを楽しむことができますが、その香りに誘われてクマバチなども飛んでいるので少し注意をしたほうが良いかも。園芸種として、薄いピンクや白い花の品種もあります。イタリアの街路でも春の花として見られます。イタリアの藤の花はローマの古くからの友人Mario Bertiさんからのものです。

In late spring or early summer, wisteria blooms purple or violet bunch of flowers. This plant is shaped in trellis usualy but many variety of shapes since vein plants, and pinkisg or white flowers are bred by florists. In Italy, one of the first spring flower in the gardens, even in cities . Climbing plant, sometimes up to the top of nearby trees. Pictures in Italy were sent from Mr. Mario Berti my old friend in Rome.
