アンスリウム属又はベニウチワ属とも呼ばれます。熱帯アメリカ原産で種は600種以上あるそうです。葉や苞（花を包む花に見える部分）の美しいものが、観葉植物として栽培されています。
Anthurium is a genus of about 600-1000 species of flowering plants, the largest genus of the arum family. The inflorescence bears small flowers containing male and female structures. The flowers are contained in dense spirals on the spadix.
