正式にはデンドロビウム・ファレノプシスですが日本ではデンファレと呼ばれることが多く、日本で切花として売られている洋蘭の中でも一般的な蘭です。タイや東南アジアでも最も一般的なランの一つで、街路樹などに着生させているのをよく見かけます。学名については、混乱が見られ、現在はD. bigibbum var. superbum が正式の学名のようですが、Dendrobium phalaenopsisのほうが馴染みがあるようです。
