緋寒桜と染井吉野に近いアマギヨシノとの交雑種で少し濃いピンク色でやや下向きに咲くのが印象的な早咲き桜。愛媛県の元青年学校教員により育成され、桜の育成品種として初めて登録された品種。その育成の逸話は映画化もされたそうです。霞が関近辺では外務省横の早さき桜としても有名です。
This variety is known the first registered cherry variety as a bred varieties, which is produced by a former teahcer of elementary school in Ehime prefecture. This variety is develpped by crossing C. campanulata and Amagiyoshino (C.x yedonensis, Amagiyoshino) which is closely related Someiyoshino.
